Day Spa Treatments - the benefits

If you have a busy life and you’re sick of neglecting yourself inside and out, it is high time you considered booking yourself in to a day spa.  These wonderful and rather illustrious institutions have a reputation of treating clients to rest, relaxation and pampering, all on a short time scale.  You can opt to have a single session of an hour or two, stay for half a day, or even book a full day of treatments, relaxation periods and beauty therapies.  It doesn’t matter if you’re old or young, successful or still trying to make it in the world, a spa day can make a huge difference to your levels of happiness, comprehension and relaxation.  They’re a great way to wind down from a prolonged period of stress (for instance, studying for an important exam, or working towards a deadline for work), as well as being a simple and easy way to prepare yourself for an important event or big day.  Day spas may just be the remedy for our high-energy, hassle-filled lives.

If you’ve considered spa days before you may have wondered, ‘Are there actually any benefits?’  Simply put, the answer is a resounding yes!  Depending on your aims prior to having your treatment you can expect to feel incredibly satisfied with both the service (renowned for being comforting and faultless) and the therapies the day spa provides.  Before you make the booking, ask yourself what your goals are.  If you’d like to lose weight there are some therapies which can help although it is always recommended that a permanent dietary plan and perhaps a longer stay at a health farm or spa resort be considered as well.  For a short term or small weight change, a clay or mud wrap may be beneficial, as can a period of steaming and mineral bathing.  It must be stated that these techniques generally only shift surface and water bloating and cannot be used to get rid of more permanent fat deposits.

Another reason you may choose to attend a day spa is to de-stress.  This is one of the best reasons to go to a spa for the day, as there are a number of treatments that can be especially helpful which do not need to be maintained over the long term.  Massage, for instance, can make an instantaneous change to even the most stressed of people - focussing on the areas of the body which usually carry tension, the masseuse can work on releasing the knots and blockages whilst soothing the client into a state of calm.  Acupuncture, the use of thin needles applied to specific areas of the body, can also be an effective way to release tension - some first-time patients find that the release is so great that they start crying with relief!  Other methods - such as the application of heated stones or heated glass cups to particular parts of the body (such as the back) are also particularly effective.
